What Your Halloween Costume Says About You
by Sarah Wassner

There may be more to your Halloween costume than just looking good. "What you choose to be for Halloween may reflect your personality," says psychologist John Suler of Rider University in New Jersey. So, what are you going to be this year?

WITCH

Witch means "wise one" in an ancient language. Legend has it that they traveled by broomstick and cast spells to stop bad guys. IF YOU'RE A WITCH, YOU ... are always on the go, constantly flying from one activity to another. You use your smarts to help friends.

CLOWNS

Clowns have entertained people for thousands of years. Modern clowns take their time —up to an hour— to apply their special makeup. IF YOU'RE A CLOWN, YOU ... love entertaining friends with your sense of humor. You also take your time tackling big projects or decisions.

GHOSTS

Believers think most ghosts are shy and disappear when spotted. People claim they often see ghosts by themselves; the spirits rarely speak. IF YOU'RE A GHOST, YOU ... are quiet, shy, and like to hang solo or with a few friends. Independent, you don't need much help from others.

PRINCESSES

Princesses are known for their beauty, elegant clothes, and sparkling jewels. This costume is always a popular choice at Halloween. IF YOU'RE A PRINCESS, YOU ... have a sparkling personality that makes you very popular. You take pride in your appearance and love to shop.

PIRATES

Pirates traditionally traveled by water in large groups. Loud and boisterous, they liked to have fun when they weren't looting ships. IF YOU'RE A PIRATE, YOU ... are adventurous, always ready to have a good time with your friends. You love traveling and being outside.

CAT

Known for their curiosity and independence, cats like to explore and play. Cats enjoy their downtime, too, sleeping about 16 hours a day. IF YOU'RE A CAT, YOU ... are fun–loving and like to check out cool new places. But when it's time to rest, you're ready to sleep late.
