Tzatziki

(From A Taste of Culture: Foods of Greece, published by KidHaven Press)

Tzatziki is a sauce (or dip) made from yogurt, garlic, cucumber, olive oil and mint.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium cucumber
  • 1 cup plain yogurt 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh mint, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the cucumber. Cut it into small slices.
  2. Put the cucumber slices in the food processor. Add the rest of the ingredients and puree until smooth.
  3. Spoon the tzatziki into a bowl, cover, and chill it in the refrigerator for an hour.


Serves 4.
