Outcome: Students will have an understanding of what careers in the social sciences require and be able to relate this to classroom instruction and activities.

Related Activities: Students may develop a portfolio demonstrating their competence in skills and knowledge related to careers in the social sciences.

Performance Indicators:

  • At Level 1, the student is able to:
    • Identify several careers based in the social sciences and the characteristics of each
  • At Level 2, the student is able to:
    • Identify the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in these careers
  • At Level 3, the student is able to:
    • Assess their own interests, values and skills when compared to possible careers in the social sciences

  • The student will develop skills using a variety of computer resources to increase productivity, support creativity, conduct and evaluate research and improve communications
  • The student will use technology resources to improve problem solving and decision making skills and apply these skills to real world situations
